DC Comics
DC Comics, based in New York, was originally founded in 1934 as National Allied Publications by Malcolm Wheeler-Nicholson. DC is derived from the words Detective Comics. It is named one of the largest and most popular comic book and related media companies producing famous characters such as the trinity - Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman. DC also has a bevy of other superheroes such as the Flash, Green Lantern, and the Justice League.

In 1969, it became a subsidiary of Warner Bros. Entertainment with Time Warner as its ultimate parent company. Its three divisions are Vertigo, Wildstorm, and Zuda Comics. DC comics are distributed to the book store market by Random House and to the speciality market by Diamond Comics Distributors. It has pushed the boundaries of comics for adults with its Vertigo line and continues to expand.
