Image Comics
Image Comics is composed of a team of hotshot artists who wanted the profits from their own creations. It was founded in 1992 by seven high-profile illustrators and became a venue for them to publish materials without giving up their respective copyrights. The founders were Todd McFarlane who worked for “Spider-Man,” Jim Lee for “X-Men,” Rob Liefeld for “X-Force,” Marc Silvestri for “Wolverine,” Erik Larsen for “The Amazing Spider-Man,” Jim Valentino for “Guardians of the Galaxy,” and Whilce Portacio for “Uncanny X-Men.”

Jim Lee created the famous X-Men comics
Soon, Image gained tremendous success after featuring creator-owned properties like “Spawn,” “Youngblood,” “Savage Dragon,” “Dark Hawk,” “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3rd Volume,” “Wild C.A.T.S.,” and “Witchblade,” among others. Image is currently competing with giants, Marvel and DC, standing as fourth largest comic book publisher in America. Despite the difficulty in releasing timely issues, Image remains a strong player in the industry leading the race creator-owned comics publication.
