Iron Man
“Iron Man” is a fictional superhero character in comic books created by writer-editor Stan Lee, scriptwriter Larry Lieber, and artists Don Heck and Jack Kirby. The character first appeared in “Tales of Suspense #39” published by Marvel Comics in March 1963. Anthony Edward Stark, a billionaire industrialist, suffers a severe heart injury after being kidnapped and forced to build a destruction weapon. He creates a power suit laden with technological devices to save his life and aid his escape. Tony then uses the suit to defend the world as Iron Man.

Iron Man was originally Lee’s way of exploring Cold War themes, which was subsequently replaced with more contemporary issues like corporate crime and terrorism. Iron man became a member of the Avengers superheroes team in the succeeding comic book series. He is featured in television shows and films. Actor Robert Downey, Jr., who played Iron Man in the film, had a cameo in “The Incredible Hulk” film. The film, with a budget of 95 million pounds, had a gross sales of 395.5 million pounds. It was released in 2008 directed by Jon Favreau. The film sequel, “Iron Man II,” is set for release in May 2010.
