X-Men
The X-Men is a fictional team of superheroes published by Marvel Comics and created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. It tells about Professor Charles Xavier (Professor X), a paraplegic telepathic, creating his mansion into training haven of young mutants to use their powers for good. The young mutants were called X-Men because of the x-gene they possessed that gave them superhuman abilities. The first five recruits were Cyclops, Iceman, Angel, Beast and Jean Grey. Later, other characters left and some joined such as Storm, Gambit, Rogue, and Wolverine. The X-Men’s arch enemy is Magneto and his Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. The X-Men then became Marvel’s pilot series having the most number of different characters.

The comics were subsequently adapted for animated television series, video games, films, and tie-in merchandise. The “X-Men” film was released in 2000 under director Bryan Singer. It stars Hugh Jackman as Logan or Wolverine, among others. Critics praised Singer’s film for its dark and realistic tone. He, however, opted to direct “Superman Returns” film. The direction of “X-Men: The Last Stand” released in 2006 was handed to Brett Ratner and got mixed reviews. Still, both films proved commercially successful.
